Founded by Steve and Karrie Fernandes, Best Life Portugal was born from a profound personal journey. After more than 30 years of owning and running businesses in Southern California, raising their family, and living the American dream, the Fernandes family experienced a series of events that changed their perspective forever.
Karrie’s battle with breast cancer and Steve’s realization that a close friend had suffered a heart attack before the age of 50 were wake-up calls that reminded them of how quickly life can change. It was during this challenging period that they made the decision to sell their business in California and take a bold leap into the unknown. Guided by faith, love, and a desire to embrace life to the fullest, they chose to come to Portugal, focusing on living their best life now.
Despite years of turning down invitations from distant relatives in Portugal, work and family obligations prevented them from seriously considering it – until everything changed. A vacation trip to Portugal proved to be a turning point. As soon as they stepped off the plane, their lives changed forever. “Where has this been all our lives?” was the question they asked themselves, and it was at that moment that they realized they had found the place where they were meant to be.
During their month-long stay, they met a couple who would later become like family, and whose law firm would play a key role in helping them navigate the immigration process. Today, this firm is one of our trusted partners, helping Best Life Portugal assist others in making the transition to Portugal smoothly and confidently.
Since we moved to Portugal, all of our children have embarked on their own immigration journeys and have also fallen in love with the country. With three of them now living in Florida, we have created a strong bridge between Portugal and the USA, with our corporate office located in Naples, Florida, and a second office in Lisbon, Portugal.
